HALO® by Sciton
HALO® by Sciton is a hybrid fractional laser that simultaneously delivers a non-ablative and an ablative wavelength in a single pass. The ablative laser removes the upper layers of the skin by creating micro channels (columns of skin are removed, leaving the skin surrounding each column intact to aid in healing). The non-ablative laser damages the deeper layers, aiding in collagen remodeling. The combination of these two lasers allow for great results with minimal downtime. You will see overall improvements in your skin, including a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduced pore size, improved skin reflectivity and glow, and significant removal of sun damage and discoloration.
Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment we will place a topical anesthetic on your skin to reduce the sensation during the procedure. With a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, patients typically experience very little discomfort. Most patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations, but are generally comfortable. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 15 to 30 minutes, or a bit longer with deeper treatment levels.
Every patient will go home with an antiviral prescription to prevent cold sores from developing. You will also be given a post-procedure skin care kit. After the first 24 hours your skin will begin to peel, but you will be able to put on makeup. You will see very little change on the first day. After two to three days you will develop a light bronzing appearance. By day three or four your skin will peel, revealing your new skin beneath. You will see initial results between two and five days after your HALO treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks.
Because the HALO stimulates collagen regeneration, it can take 3-6 months to see the full results. Although your results will last for years to come, you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using a medical grade sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin. Each additional HALO treatment you get will only improve the results, giving you even better looking skin.
