What is Ultherapy?

How does Ultherapy work?

The Ulthera system uses safe, effective ultrasound energy to stimulate the production of new collagen in the deep layers of your skin. The ultrasound in Ultherapy is the same type of sound energy that’s been used in clinical practice for decades as an imaging modality.

When your medical provider passes the Ultherapy device over your skin, the sound waves penetrate into your skin’s foundation, reaching three layers of skin. Other tissue-tightening treatments, such as lasers, tend to treat only the epidermis, the top layer of skin.

The ultrasound energy heats your skin to the degree where it starts to produce new collagen and elastin, the building blocks of healthy skin. Over the next several months, this process improves your skin from the inside out, lifting, firming, and toning each treated area.

What happens when I get Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a comfortable, procedure without needles, toxins, or any kind of incision. While you relax in the treatment chair, your medical provider first cleans your skin and then coats it with a cooling ultrasound gel.

After placing the Ulthera device on your skin, your medical provider 

uses ultrasound imaging to determine how thick your skin is and then selects the perfect settings for the treatment area. While the device is on your skin, you may feel some tingling or heat each time the ultrasound energy penetrates and stimulates your skin. 

Treating the face and neck takes about one hour, while treating the chest area takes about 30 minutes.

How soon do I see my results?

You may notice a healthy glow after your Ultherapy session, but your real results appear months later, after your skin rebuilds itself with new collagen and elastin. You may continue to notice more lifting and tightening in your skin for up to six months.
