There may be nothing we can do to stop the forward march of time, but that doesn't mean that we can’t take steps to forestall the effects. In the cosmetic world, we talk a lot about rejuvenation, which breathes new life into aging skin.
While effective, especially given the advancements in our laser technologies, we’re excited to go a step further with pre-juvenation — heading off the effects of aging skin before they begin.
Our team at Advanced Aesthetics Lopez Plastic Surgery & L Med Spa, with Dr. Manuel Lopez at the helm, prides itself on offering ways to not only turn back the clock but also stay one step ahead of it. At the forefront of this effort is our Moxi® laser system by Sciton.
In the following, we review the many benefits of making Moxi treatments a part of your regular skin care regimen.
Understanding the Moxi technology
At the heart of our innovative Moxi system is a 1927 nm fractionated laser that delivers non-ablative energy. The 1927 figure refers to the wavelength of the laser energy, and the term fractionated means that the device divides the laser beam into scores of micro-treatment zones, allowing us to treat your skin a fraction at a time.
The non-ablative terminology is also key — the energy doesn’t disturb the surface of your skin. Instead, it travels below to the deeper layers.
All of this science means that we can respond to changes in your skin with Moxi without resorting to invasive methods.
Using Moxi as a pre-juvenation tool
Moxi is an ideal tool for people who want to keep up with or get ahead of the skin’s aging processes. Signs of aging begin in our mid-20s with a gradual loss of collagen. Adding to this natural decline in collagen production are the effects of sun exposure.
Combine these forces, and you’re left with:
- Less elasticity and tone in your skin
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Sagging skin, especially at low points around your face (jowls, etc.)
- Age spots and other discolorations
We can tackle all these concerns with just one treatment with regular Moxi treatments. First, we break up surface blemishes like age and sun spots while encouraging cellular turnover.
Second, the energy we send down into your skin through microchannels elicits a collagen response, keeping production of this structural protein ramped up. The new collagen improves the tone and texture of your skin, making it look fresh and vibrant.
Moxi treatments as part of your regular regimen
Our clients love Moxi treatments because:
- The treatments are quick — about 12-15 minutes
- There’s little to no downtime after treatment
- It’s effective on all skin types
About 24 hours after your Moxi treatment, you can apply makeup, and you’ll see gradual results during the weeks following your treatment.
We also want to point out that we can use Moxi on areas outside your face, such as your neck, chest, hands, arms, and legs.
Whatever your pre-juvenation and rejuvenation goals may be, we have you covered. To learn more about our exciting Moxi technology, contact one of our six locations in the San Antonio, Texas, area to schedule an appointment.
