Sciton ProFractional Laser

Sciton ProFractional Laser

Sciton’s ProFractional laser is an Erbium fractional resurfacing laser that removes layers of the skin by creating micro channels (columns of skin are removed, leaving the skin surrounding each column intact to aid in healing). The ProFractional can penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, but with little heat damage to surrounding tissue, making this laser safe for all skin types. This process stimulates new collagen growth and improves your skin’s texture and tone, fine lines and wrinkles, and scarring.

The laser is typically well tolerated with the use of a topical anesthetics. For deeper treatments, a local anesthetic may be used. The level of comfort varies from patient to patient depending largely on the depth of treatment. The procedure usually lasts about 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

The ProFractional laser will require about 2-5 days of downtime, however, complete healing is largely dependent on depth of treatment. Every patient will go home with an antiviral prescription to prevent cold sores from developing. You will also be given a post-procedure skin care kit. It is important to avoid direct sun exposure for about a month after your treatment.

The number of treatments needed can vary from patient to patient. We typically recommend 1-4 treatments, however, this can be discussed with your provider during consultation. Because the ProFractional laser stimulates new collagen production, it can take 3-6 months to see the full results.
