How Does Sculptra® Work?
Sculptra works by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production. It contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biodegradable synthetic material that, when injected into the dermis, activates fibroblasts to produce collagen. This collagen production helps to restore facial volume and improve skin texture over time. Unlike traditional fillers that provide immediate results, Sculptra’s effects develop gradually, as the newly formed collagen replaces lost volume and smooths out wrinkles and fine lines.

Your Sculptra® Session
During your Sculptra session, you will first have a consultation to discuss your goals and create a personalized treatment plan. The provider will cleanse the treatment area and may apply a topical anesthetic for your comfort. Using a fine needle, they will inject Sculptra into specific areas of your face. The procedure typically takes about 30-60 minutes. After the injections, the provider will massage the treated areas to ensure even distribution. You can resume normal activities immediately with little to no downtime.
Sculptra® Recovery & Aftercare
After your Sculptra session, you can expect minimal downtime. You might experience mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, which typically subsides within a few days. To aid recovery, you should massage the treated areas for five minutes, five times a day, for five days, avoid strenuous activities and excessive sun exposure for 24 hours, and apply ice packs to reduce swelling. Follow your provider’s instructions closely to optimize results.
Sculptra® Results
Sculptra results appear gradually, with initial improvements visible within a few weeks and full results developing over several months as your body produces new collagen. Typically, you will need three to four sessions spaced six weeks apart to achieve optimal results.
The effects of Sculptra can last up to two years or more, providing long-lasting volume and smoother skin. To maintain your appearance, you may schedule maintenance sessions every 18-24 months.
