What breast augmentation can (and cannot) accomplish
Breast augmentation is the top-ranked cosmetic surgery in the US because it truly delivers.
If you feel that your breasts are too small, we’re able to boost their size with implants that create the profile you desire.
Another way breast augmentation excels is if you have asymmetrical breasts (one is smaller than the other). Through implants, we can even out the sizes of your breasts. The same holds true if you have breasts that have different shapes.
Another reason why women come to see us for breast augmentation is to restore volume in breasts after they’ve lost weight or finished breastfeeding.
While breast augmentation is effective in increasing the size of your breasts and changing their shapes, we want to make sure that you understand that the procedure doesn’t lift your breasts. If sagging breasts are your chief complaint, then we recommend that you talk with us about a breast lift, which can be combined with breast augmentation.
Choosing your implant
If you want to undergo a breast augmentation, one of your primary decisions will be the type of implant:
We insert empty implants through tiny incisions. When they’re in place, we fill them with sterile saltwater. Other than smaller incisions, another benefit of saline implants is that, should they leak, your body easily absorbs the water. To help with shape retention, there are structured saline implants that hold their shape a little better than traditional saline implants.
These breast implants are filled with silicone gel, which allows them to hold their shape. Furthermore, the gel feels very much like natural breast tissue. On the off chance that the implant develops a leak, the good news is that your breast will still hold its shape, though it does need to be replaced. Please note that we need to make a larger incision to place these implants, but we hide the incision well.
These types of implants hold their structure very well as they contain a gel that’s thicker than the gel inside silicone implants. Gummy bear/silicone implants are a great option if you want more well-rounded breasts toward the top for optimal cleavage. These implants require a larger incision.
