Preparing for Surgery

Facial plastic surgery can be an anxiety provoking event.  It is important that our patients know that at Lopez Plastic Surgery we are here to assist you throughout your treatment; to make it a comfortable and positive experience. STARTING NOW: Two Weeks Prior to Surgery Take Multivitamins: Start taking a brand name (ex. One-A-Day) multivitamin daily to improve your general health once you have scheduled your surgery. Take Vitamin C: Start taking 1000 mg of Vitamin C daily to promote healing. Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen: Stop taking medications containing aspirin or ibuprofen. Review the list of drugs containing aspirin and ibuprofen carefully. [ read more ]

Medications to Avoid Before and After Surgery

If you are taking any medications on this list, they should be discontinued 14 days prior to surgery and Tylenol should be taken for pain. All other medications that you are currently taking must be specifically cleared by Dr. Lopez prior to surgery. Post Operative Care

VERY IMPORTANT: If you have excessive bleeding or pain, call the office at (210) 495-2367, day or night. YOUR FIRST 24 HOURS: If you are going home, a family member or friend must drive you because you have been sedated. Someone should stay overnight with you. DRESSINGS: Keep your dressings as clean and dry as possible. Do not remove them unless instructed to do so. ACTIVITY: Take it easy and pamper yourself. Try to avoid any straining. ABOUT RISKS We want you to understand fully the risks involved in surgery so that you can make an informed decision. Although complications are infrequent, all surgeries have some degree of risk.
